Released in 1989, the Air Jordan 4 took flight with Tinker Hatfield’s design chops and our own Sandy Bodecker's help at the helm. Introducing new materials to the courts and evolved tech for breathability, the AJ4 continued the franchise’s cutting design and luxury-influenced aesthetics. Like the man himself, the run remained flawless and the Air Jordan 4 instantly became an icon. Beloved by many for its undeniable style and comfort, the original Air Jordan 4’s design became a perpetual “what if” for skateboarders looking for a performance shoe that stepped up to the progression of a revolutionary era. In 2023, the circle is complete.

Enter the Nike SB x AJ4, decades deep and remastered for modern skateboarding. Mixing the original ‘89 vamp pattern and build with a deconstructed upper, the Nike SB x AJ4 offers a fit and form for skateboarding while maintaining its legendary look. Under-the-hood tweaks to the Nike SB x AJ4 were key to upping the skateability of the shoe while maintaining its iconic lines and look. Driving back to its original iteration, the entire sole construction was dialed in, including the addition of a Poron forefoot sockliner for flexibility, impact cushioning, and durability. Featuring a leather, suede, and rubber construction and finished with SB branding and Jumpman Flight tongue art, the Nike SB x AJ4 brings heritage, technology, and culture together with all eyes on the future.
